In Vampire the Requiem, you take on the role of a vampire or servant to a vampire, engaging in the Danse Macabre: the perpetual political and supernatural life of an immortal and cursed creature. Characters can explore the moral implications of being a monster among mankind and create a story of their interactions with fellow vampires and the rest of the world.

All around us, hidden in the modern day, different families of vampires live in complex societies that span the globe, but are unknown to almost all humans. Embracing -- the act of turning a human into a vampire -- is rare, and stamps the instrinsic powers and weaknesses into the newly created vampire. Unlike in folklore, the mere act of being bitten does nothing, and almost all vampires have natural capabilities to hunt and feed without leaving any memory or wound.

The many different bloodlines are organized roughly into five clans. More important to most are the religious, political or philosophical Covenants that form the basis of vampire society.

Middle Tennessee

The ascendent covenant in Nashville is currently the Invictus, holding their city under Prince Johnathan "Five Aces" Pinkerton. All other covenants are represented in the city, meeting monthly at the Elysium at the Frist Center downtown.

Below is the geographic information generally known to vampires in Nashville. A mix of laws, treaties and tradition, it is observed by most vampires. Beyond this public (or at least "openly secret") information, there is quite a bit of assignment of land and locations that are known only to Covenant, Clan or Coteries.

Havens, the place where individual vampires sleep during the day, are presumed to be entirely secret and shared with no other individual. The paranoia of otherwise immortal creatures is legendary when it comes to their one real point of true weakness.
